Who we are

Left For You is a UK-based digital service that helps people create a personal document for their loved ones. For data protection purposes, we are the data controller for the information you provide. You can reach us at hello@leftforyou.co.uk.

What data we collect

• Your first name and email address, provided when you start a guide.
• The answers you give to the prompts in each of the 11 sections of your guide.
• Payment confirmation details from Stripe (we never see or store your card details).
• Basic technical information needed to run the service, such as session identifiers.

Why we collect it

• To save your progress so you can come back and finish your guide.
• To generate and deliver your completed PDF document.
• To send you a return link to your email if you need to resume.
• To process payment for one-time and annual plans.
• For annual subscribers, to send a once-a-year reminder to review your guide.

Our lawful bases for processing are contract (to provide the service you've asked for) and legitimate interests(to keep the service secure and functional).

How long we keep it

• Incomplete guides: deleted automatically 30 days after the last update.
• One-time purchases: all personal data deleted 7 days after you download your guide.
• Annual subscribers: your guide is stored for as long as your subscription is active. If you cancel, your data is deleted within 30 days of the end of your subscription period.
• Payment records: retained for 6 years to comply with UK tax law (held by Stripe and in our accounting records).

Who we share it with

We never sell, rent or trade your personal data. We use a small number of trusted processors to run the service:

• Supabase — secure database and authentication hosting (EU region).
• Stripe — payment processing. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant and holds your card details directly.
• Email delivery provider — to send return links and your completed document.

Each processor is bound by a data processing agreement and only handles your data on our instructions.

Cookies

We use essential cookies and similar browser storage for session management only — for example, to keep you signed in while you fill in your guide. We do not use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Have inaccurate data corrected.
• Have your data deleted (the “right to be forgotten”).
• Restrict or object to how we use your data.
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the lawful basis.

How to complain

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated to active subscribers by email.
